An inner core lined with 24K gold foil is visible through the glass. To create the spirals, Murano glass masters drew threads of molten glass around the balls. Glass masters have been practicing their art in Murano, a group of islands in the Venetian lagoon, for over 700 years!
The ringed balls are topped with tiny Austrian crystals and attached to 14K gold-filled leverback ear wires. Gold-filled is a finish of real 14K gold that's 100 times as thick as gold plate, and much thicker than gold vermeil as well. It's the next best thing to solid gold -- beautiful, durable, and safe for most sensitive ears.
