These 1.25-inch earrings feature the little-known gem black moonstone, cut into rounded marquise briolettes. They have the same chatoyancy that rainbow moonstones are known for, but in this stone it's a silvery sheen. The faceting on these stones is exquisite - they're microfaceted to catch more light, and the delicate cutting makes the edges of the facets rounded and smooth to the touch. Unfortunately it's hard to photograph the subtle faceting over the most chatoyant parts of the stone. 

I've hung the moonstones on handmade hooks made of 14K gold-filled, a material with far more actual gold content than gold plate or gold vermeil. It's beautiful and durable, the next best thing to solid gold, at a much more affordable price! Overall, an elegant and versatile pair of minimalist earrings. Wear them to work, church, the opera, casual dates, or doing errands - these dainty drops will look great anywhere.
